The economy of Mexico is the 11th largest in the world, based on the leadership of several industries, such as high technology. In fact, Mexico's electronics and IT industries are reaching a maturity that gives them a privileged position in the digital world. Nowadays. its electronics industry has more than 700 manufacturing companies, employing more than 340,000 people, while its IT industry includes over 2,000 companies.
Visiting Jalisco provides the opportunity to discover a land full of traditions, which has given Mexico many of its flagship symbols in the world, such as tequila and mariachi. Guadalajara. capital of Jalisco, is the second most important city in Mexico, and one of its top tourist and business destinations. Beyond its history and traditions, Guadalajara has managed to be recognized worldwide as the Mexican Silicon Valley, thanks to a powerful cluster of more than 600 high tech companies and 78,500 professionals. In 2009, its industry exported 14.8 billion dollars, accounting for 60% of Jalisco's total exports.
Electronic manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, software, ITO/BPO, electronic design, multimedia and animation, are some of the sectors covered by the Jalisco high tech ecosystem. Far from depending on isolated efforts, Jalisco has a specific strategy to develop its technology cluster, coordinated by industry, government and universities, and supported by a national plan to promote its capabilities.
