The idea behind the event
The theme for the GPPS 2011 is “Fulfilling the Promise of the Digital Age: e-Inclusion in an i-Society”. We all know that “e” stands for electronic and “i” for information. But we also believe that they can stand for everybody, everywhere, every minute, and for interaction, involvement, integration, innovation.
Without an all-encompassing e-inclusion we can’t aspire to the i-society we dream of: the global village in a digital planet where we all have a place, and we all have a role. The challenge is how to get there. Furthermore, how to get there guaranteeing that the resources and the rate of growth required are sustainable.
The largest proportion of the world today still relies on traditional forms of social inclusion: going to work, dating, buying things… or looking for work, for a date, who to sell our goods to. However, most of those activities are shifting towards the digital sphere. The digital sphere is growing, but it is still far from including everyone. And there are huge disadvantages if you’re not in.
e-inclusion in an i-society is a dream worth having, a goal worth striving for. It’s just right. And to get there we need to develop the right Public Policies that enable full inclusion to happen.
For all that, we invite you to come with us…
